March 1: Direct Access to Physiotherapy Works, Says Report
A recent report validates the WCB’s Direct Access to Physiotherapy Program, which helps workers with strains and sprains return to work as soon as possible after a workplace injury. On average, 3,700 workers with sprains and strains undergo 50,000 treatments at physiotherapy clinics across Nova Scotia each year. The report, which is based on input from a group of worker and employer representatives, says that direct access to physiotherapy is appropriate but it identifies some ways to improve how the program is implemented. Sprains and strains account for over 50% of all injuries where a worker loses time from work.
