July 9: 60-Year-Old Workers’ Comp Claim Denied
In 1953, Len Fisher was hurt when the plane he was using to spray fields crashed. He spent eight months in the hospital. But he didn’t file a workers’ comp claim until June 2012 for his hospital bills. The claim was rejected because Fisher didn’t have any coverage at the time of the incident. A spokesperson noted that such old claims aren’t unusual for occupational diseases but are rare for traumatic injuries.
