A worker at a gold mine had been trying to dislodge some rocks in the crushing room when the rocks shifted, trapping him against equipment for 10 hours. Rescuers were eventually able to scoop the ore around his legs in pails and remove it in small loads. The worker didn’t suffer any apparent injuries, but was taken to the hospital as a precaution. Mine inspectors were notified of the incident and operations temporarily suspended as officials tried to determine its cause.
