Jan. 14: Still Time to Get Protected from the Flu
Yukon’s Chief Medical Officer said residents still have time to protect themselves from this year’s flu virus. There have been more than 25 lab-confirmed cases to date in the territory, but those cases likely represent about 10% of the people who are actually ill because many don’t see a doctor. Free flu shots are available at rural community health centres or drop-in immunization clinics. The CMO also reiterated the importance of hand washing, coughing into your elbow and staying home when you’re sick.
