Dec. 4: Clarification of Flu Shot Policy for Healthcare Workers
As of Dec. 1, a new policy took effect requiring all healthcare workers in publicly funded healthcare facilities or in the community to either get immunized against influenza or wear a mask when in areas where patient contact may be expected. But the government clarified that the disciplinary components of the policy aren’t being enforced this year. Staff who aren’t immunized must still wear a mask during this flu season. But in the policy’s first year, the focus will be on education and support rather than progressive discipline.
