Dec. 19: Testimony Given in Inquest into Nursing Home Fire
Testimony was given at a coroner’s inquest into a fire at a seniors’ home that killed 32 people. One of the home’s owner testified that he hadn’t trained either of the two night workers on the residence’s emergency evacuation plan. As a result, the night of the fire, the worker didn’t immediately start escorting seniors outside to safety. In addition, the main doors to the residence were locked, trapping people inside.
