Traffic Safety Improved by Integrated Road Safety Units

Feb. 25: According to the latest report from BC’s Enhanced Road Safety Enforcement Initiative, integrated road safety units helped reduce traffic injuries by 11% and laid 22% more impaired driving charges in 2007. Other highlights:
- Road deaths declined to 415 in 2007 from an average of 445 in 2004 and 2005
- Injuries declined to 25,899 from 28,974
- Seatbelt use in urban areas increased to 95% from 83%.
