Dec. 2: A review panel appointed under the Coroners Act issued its report on the suicides of 81 children in BC between 2003 and 2007. In addition to recommending 17 suicide prevention strategies, the report identified three main risk group profiles:
- Children with chronic mental health problems
- Those who experienced ongoing family or relationship dysfunction
- Those who experienced a stressful event but didn’t have mental health problems or ongoing family or relationship issues.
