New WCB statistics show an increase in workers’ comp claims in the agriculture industry so far this year. The Board approved 143 farming claims from Jan. 1 to July 2, 2015 but approved 356 such claims for the same period in 2016. Of those claims:
- Two were for fatalities
- 147 involved time away from work
- 88 were for sprains or strains
- 76 were for superficial wounds
- 62 were for open wounds
- 43 were for fractures, dislocation or nerve damage.
