Aug. 5: Nurses Want More Protection from Violence
The Ontario Nurses’ Association wants a better strategy for preventing violence against nurses after an incident in which a patient beat up a nurse and injured three others at the Southlake Regional Health Centre. Southlake nurses had requested extra security for dealing with patients considered risks to themselves or others, but nothing was done. And management took away the nurses’ panic buttons months because they were too expensive. The MOL is investigating the Southlake attack.
