April 9: Third Incident on Offshore Oil Platform
The Canada Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board says a fire broke out in a main power generator on the Hibernia offshore oil platform. The generator had to be shut down. Fortunately, the fire was quickly put out and no one was injured. Earlier, two pieces of steel grating fell more than four metres to the platform’s deck. Again, no one was hurt. And a few weeks ago, a worker on the platform was almost hit by a metal rod that fell 15 metres.
