Following Ontario’s lead, Manitoba has created a new Chief Prevention Officer position to enhance coordination of prevention initiatives between the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Division and the WCB. The chief prevention officer will be responsible for:
- Leading a review of provincial workplace safety and health services
- Overseeing development and implementation of a joint injury- and illness-prevention strategy
- Ensuring public awareness and prevention activities promote understanding of and compliance with OHS enforcement efforts
- Ensuring delivery of effective public-awareness programs and prevention activities.
