According to a new report by the public sector integrity commissioner, Shirish Chotalia, former head of the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal, subjected her staff to harassment and abuse of authority. The two-year investigation found that Chotalia acted as a tyrant who belittled and insulted her staff to the point of tears. For example, her aggressive interrogations of some caused them “severe anxiety.” She also harassed and abused other government-appointed members of the Tribunal. And she worked her staff around the clock without paying them overtime. Chotalia refused to co-operate with the investigation, calling it a witch hunt.
