New safety training requirements will take effect on April 1 for operators of private trucks working on highway projects and contracts. Operators of private trucks will have to complete OHS Orientation, WHMIS training and Work Area Traffic Control Manual Awareness Training. They’ll also be required to perform a daily pre-trip inspection on their trucks. Contractors will have to confirm that operators have taken the required training.
