Fishing Boat Incident Results in OHS Charges
While the vessel MV Aqviq was tied up at a wharf, some frozen product fell as it was being lifted from the hold and hit a worker in the head, causing serious injuries. The employer was charged with violating the OHS Act and regulations by failing to provide a safe workplace; ensure that safe work procedures were followed; provide instruction and supervision and ensure head protection was worn.
