Jan. 26: Manufacturing Plant Suffers Ammonia Leak

An anhydrous ammonia leak at a food manufacturing plant was first detected by workers when they sensed a strong smell of ammonia. Firefighters wearing hazmat gear traced the leak to the building’s roof. The 200 plant workers were directed to the back of the plant and followed their ‘protection in place’ safety procedures. The site was ruled safe after firefighters dealt with the leak. No one was injured.
