BENEFITS

WHMIS is designed to protect workers from the risks posed by hazardous substances (called “controlled products” under the WHMIS laws). A WHMIS program consists of Material Safety Data Sheet or MSDS, which is intended to give workers the key information they need about a particular controlled product, such as what hazards it poses and the PPE necessary for working with the product, workplace labels on controlled products and worker training.

HOW TO USE THE TOOL

This checklist will help you ensure that a WHMIS program is properly implemented in your workplace. It includes a checklist for implementing a general WHMIS program as well as a checklist for implementing a WHMIS training program.
