Kathleen Wynne, Minister of Transportation: “It’s Winter. It is Winter, and it’s an important fact of life in Ontario. We know that it comes every year, but somehow it seems to be a surprise to people. People seem to be caught off guard even though we know it’s going to come.”

Bill Grodzinski, Chief Superintendent, OPP: “The difference in driver attitude and driver behaviour in the Winter time is the difference between getting home safely, or becoming one of the statistics.”

Brian Patterson, President & General Manager, Ontario Safety League: “At the end of the day, we want people to be safe, and to be safe you have to be aware of what you’re doing. With Winter we see preparation as number one.”

Silvana Aceto: Canadian Automobile Association: “Here are some of the things that drivers need in order to get their vehicle Winter-ready: drivers should keep handy a snow brush and an ice scraper in their vehicle. Before they head out, drivers should make sure that they clear the snow from the entire car. Top up that windshield washer fluid, especially on those really sloppy, slushy days.”

Minister Wynne: “These are some simple things that you can do while travelling our roads this Winter. Our message really is simple. Safe Winter driving requires all of us to be prepared, to stay alert, to slow down, and to stay in control.”
