Jul 18: WorkplaceNL issued a bulletin reminding employers and the public to take extra safety precautions when working in hot and humid conditions. Heat stress is of particular concern to workers in commercial kitchens, laundries, bakeries, farming and construction.

ONTARIO

Sep 1: That’s the deadline to comment on the MOL’s proposal to add new OHS regulations for heat stress. Ontario is among the few jurisdictions that don’t have OHS regulations specifically addressing heat stress. Currently, the duty to control such hazards is implied under the “general duty clause” of the OHS Act.
