Gas Station Owners Fined $20,000 for Failing to Comply with Environmental Order

A court had ordered the owners of a gas station to comply with the Storage Tank Systems for Petroleum Products and Allied Petroleum Products Regulations under the CEPA. But the owners failed to meet all of the requirements identified in the order. The owners were found guilty of failing to comply with a court order and each fined $10,000. The $20,000 will be directed to the Environmental Damages Fund. The court also issued a new order to them, instructing them to complete an emergency plan, to conduct and correct any issues found during environmental audits, and to report back to the Department’s enforcement officers [Napoleon Albert Medal and Jeannette F.
