Former Operator of Dry Cleaning Facility Fined $5,000 for PERC Violations

An inspection of a dry cleaning facility revealed that a container, in which a residue containing tetrachloroethylene (or PERC) was found, didn’t have a secondary containment system as required by the federal Tetrachloroethylene (Use in Dry Cleaning and Reporting Requirements) Regulations. The former operator of the facility pleaded guilty to one violation of those regulations. The court fined him $5,000, which will be directed to the Environmental Damages Fund [Samy Iskander, Govt.
