Food Plant Fined Nearly $98,000 for Worker’s Machine Injury

A worker cleaning a machine suffered serious injuries after getting his hand caught in its rotating piece. WorkSafeBC inspectors found that there had been a guard in place but that somebody removed it to make it easier to clean the machine. To make matters worse, the machine was new and the victim didn’t receive training on how to use it safely.
