Fishing Company Pleads Guilty in Worker’s Fatal Crushing

Two workers on a fishing vessel were sent to clean the shrimp tank. One worker flipped a switch that closed a hydraulic door, crushing the other to death. The worker who turned on the machinery said he was never instructed on how to stop the doors in an emergency. The fishing company pleaded guilty to two safety violations, including failing to provide necessary safety training. The Crown and defence are recommending a $90,000 fine.
