Fatigue Is Cause of Fatal Heavy Vehicle Driver Crash

The driver of a heavy vehicle ran off the road and crashed into a fence. He died from his injuries. A CSST investigation concluded that fatigue and mismanagement of his hours caused the fatal incident. In the 29 hours before the crash, the driver had gotten only seven hours and 23 minutes (non-consecutive) of rest and sleep. His employer will be fined [Schokbeton, CSST news release, Nov. 29, 2012].
