Fatal Wall Collapse Results in $100,000 Fine for Constructor

Four workers employed by a contractor were demolishing an interior concrete block wall, which was about 26 feet high. It collapsed on two workers. One died as a result of multiple trauma; the other suffered severe injuries to his back, chest and pelvis. The demolition and wall collapse were caught on surveillance video. An MOL investigation concluded that the wall collapsed because an inadequate demolition procedure was used. The constructor pleaded guilty to failing, as a constructor, to ensure that the health and safety of workers on the site was protected and was fined a total of $100,000 [English Prestige Builders Ltd., Govt.
