Failure to Establish Code of Practice as to Tank Results in $5,000 Fine

To allow a worker to replace a switch on a low-pressure condensate tank at a hospital, a plumber drained the tank of near-boiling water directly onto the concrete floor. The worker was using a wrench on the tank when he slipped and his foot ended up in the water, giving him second-degree burns. The hospital pleaded guilty to failing to establish a code of practice for the cleaning, maintenance, adjustments or repairs of the tank and was fined $5,000 [Vitalit‚ Health Network, Govt.
