Failure to Comply with OHS Orders Costs Sports Bar $110,000

An MOL inspector issued various orders to a sports bar/restaurant between June 2011 and Dec. 2011. But the bar didn’t comply with 13 orders, which addressed various safety issues including the lack of a JHSC, required policies and programs, MSDSs and safety mechanisms such as guards. After a trial, it was convicted of failing to comply with the orders and was fined $110,000 [Harbour Sports Grille, Govt. News Release, Jan. 23, 2014].
