Excavation Offence Costs Employer $3,500

An OHS Officer observed two workers working in the bottom of a trench, which wasn’t compliant with the requirements in the OHS laws. The employer pleaded guilty to failing to comply with Sec. 262 of the OHS Regulations when a worker was present in an excavation that was more than 1.2 metres deep and was fined $3,500 [Cary Brent Thiessen, Govt.
