Employer Fined $24,000 after Worker Falls from Stepladder

A worker climbed a stepladder to fix an overhead door guard that had been bent. After loosening the guard’s bolts, the door struck the stepladder and the worker fell to the concrete floor, suffering serious injuries. His employer was found guilty of three OHS violations, including failing to ensure that its workers were trained in all matters required to protect their health or safety and that all work at a place of employment was sufficiently and competently supervised.
