Dull Saw Injures Worker and Results in $8,400 Fine

A worker was operating a thinning saw to clear brush from a deer fence along the highway. As a co-worker held the tree being cut, the dull saw kicked back and struck the first worker in the leg. The employer pleaded guilty to failing to ensure that each employee is competent with respect to the tools, equipment, machines, devices and materials that he’s to use.
