Death of Worker on Road Paint Crew Results in OHS Charges

A worker with the Department of Transportation and Works was struck and killed by a pickup truck while working with a paint crew on the Trans-Canada Highway. Another worker and two people who were in the truck were also taken to the hospital. As a result, the Department was charged with eight OHS violations, including failing to provide a safe workplace, instruction, supervision and effective traffic control [Department of Transportation and Works, Govt.
