Contractor Jailed for Worker’s Death in Trench Collapse

A 54-year-old construction worker was killed in an avalanche of dirt when the trench in which he was laying pipe collapsed. In March, the excavation contractor at the site was found guilty of manslaughter for failing to properly shore the trench and causing the worker’s death. And now the sentence has come down: 18 months in jail followed by 2 years of probation
