Company and Worker Fined $94,000 for Serious Hand Injury

A worker was removing ice from a conveyor when his hand became caught between the running conveyor belt and a scraper, causing serious injuries. The company pleaded guilty to violating Sec. 18(1) of the OHS Act by failing to report the injury as soon as possible. The court fined it $90,000.
