Company Owner Jailed for Violating Environmental Court Order

The owner of a roofing business was convicted of two violations of the Environmental Protection Act. At the time, the court issued an order requiring him to remove all deposited waste from his property to a site approved to accept the waste by a specific deadline and to provide a written report to the MOE confirming removal of the waste. But when the Ministry inspected the property, it was discovered that the waste hadn’t been removed. The owner also failed to submit a written report to the ministry. As a result, the owner was convicted of two offences and sentenced to 30 days in jail on each [Brian Michael Julian, Govt. News Release, June 30, 2016].
