Company Fined $10,000 & Barred from Construction Work for 18 Months

Three workers were moving a truss to the second floor of a residential construction project when one of the workers fell approximately 6.4 meters and was seriously injured. The construction company pleaded guilty to violating Sec. 2(1)(a)(i) of the OHS Act. The court fined it $10,000 and barred it from engaging in residential construction or employing workers for 18 months [MacKay Construction Ltd., Govt. News Release, May 11, 2016].
