Business Owner Is Victim of His Own OHS Violations

The owner of a tire service station asked a forklift operator to lift the pallet he was standing on so he could perform repairs on the garage door motor. After finishing the job, the owner fell about 2.5 metres to the ground. Adding insult to injury, he was fined $2,500 for OHS forklift and fall protection violations. The court said the fine would have been much higher if somebody else had gotten hurt [POLOBU Tire Inc. (operating as OK Tire), WorkSafeNB announcement, June 26, 2021].
