Auto Body Shop Penalized $25,000 for VOC Violations

During an inspection of an auto body shop, Environment and Climate Change Canada enforcement officers discovered imported automotive refinishing products containing volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which exceeded limits set out in the federal Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) Concentration Limits for Automotive Refinishing Products Regulations under CEPA 1999. The shop pleaded guilty to violating those regulations and was ordered to pay $25,000 to the Environmental Damages Fund.
