The government passed Bill 80, an Act to Amend The Construction Industry Labour Relations Act, 1992. Highlights:
Eliminates the government-mandated monopoly that forced unionized construction workers to belong to a government-designated union for their trade or craft
Gives employers, who are organized by trade division, the right to choose which employer organization to join
Provides clarity on the issue of abandonment
Ensures that Saskatchewan’s construction industry labour relations framework is aligned with the Canadian constitution.
