May 1-7: Young Worker Safety Feature of BC Youth Week

During BC Youth Week, WorkSafeBC educated young workers aged 15-24 on the importance of staying safe on the job. From 2005-2009, there were a total of 50,367 young worker claims. Twenty-eight percent of all claims by young people working in the retail sector were due to overexertion, typically from moving or lifting boxes, crates, cartons or other objects.
