Dec. 11: Proposed amendments to the Electricians’ Licence Act would recognize electricians certified in other provinces and those who perform more specialized electrical functions, such as computer, data, voice data and alarm work. The law currently recognizes all journeyed electricians but not limited or specialized licence holders from other jurisdictions. Under the amendment, a Manitoba licence would be issued to a qualified person holding a licence issued by a recognized licensing authority outside Manitoba equivalent to a Manitoba licence.
