Fishing Boat Safety Aug. 21: The Transportation Safety Board launched an investigation into safety on small fishing boats. Sixty people have died in incidents on such boats over the past five years, a loss of life that’s “unacceptable,” says the Board. Investigators will look at studies of prior incidents involving fishing boats in Canada as well as other countries, such as the US and UK. They’ll also speak to vessel owners and operators, fishing associations, governments, unions and fishermen.
