Radiation Aug. 4: According to an investigation by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, two truckers were exposed to excessive doses of radiation while hauling a radioactive device across the country. The cause: the lack of a safety lock on the device that would have prevented it from shifting from its shielded to an unshielded position. Experts say, however, that the dose probably wasn’t high enough to harm the truckers.
