Bus Safety July 17: Transportation officials in Toronto, Edmonton and Vancouver are exploring the use of safety shields to protect bus drivers from violence. The drivers’ union in Edmonton recommended improvements to safety measures on city buses after an increase in confrontations with passengers, most of which involved verbal abuse, spitting and shoving.
