Workers’ Compensation July 14: WorkSafeBC’s Board of Directors approved changes to its policy on the adjudication of mental stress claims. Highlights:
  • Deletion of the policy statements and examples criticized by the BC Court of Appeal in Plesner v. BC Hydro and Power Authority et al
  • Inclusion of a definition of “traumatic event” as “an emotionally shocking event”
  • Reference to the fact that an acute reaction may be delayed in certain circumstances, in keeping with the diagnostic features of mental stress.
