Fire Safety (Holidays)

Dec. 4: The government reminded residents to practice fire safety over the holidays. Statistics show that during the holiday season, fires and fire-related deaths increase. On average, from December 15 to 31 each year:
  • Home fires increase by 10%
  • Fire deaths by 46%
  • Fire injuries by 19%.
Holiday fires were commonly related to holiday cooking, heating equipment and unattended candles.
