Mine Violated Six Safety Requirements in Worker’s Death

A worker died at a mine when his vehicle crashed underground. An investigation found that the mine violated six parts of the OHS Act. The government cited the mine for lack of training, failing to mark hazards and not requiring seatbelt use, all of which were factors in the fatal crash. The mine indicated that it will comply with all government recommendations and incorporate them into its training program [Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan, The Canadian Press, Dec. 1, 2008].
