Arc Flash Incident Costs Company $22,000

A worker was seriously burned by an arc flash explosion at a worksite in Saskatoon. As a result, the electric company pleaded guilty to failing to ensure that a worker used appropriate PPE while working close to an exposed energized electrical conductor and to ensure all work is sufficiently and competently supervised. The court fined it $22,000 [Diversified Electric Ltd., Govt. News Release, April 19, 2010].
